Chesed Farms is a strategically located network of always local food production resources, and first choice in the community for premium, gourmet mushrooms.

Nourishing loving & kind relationships.

Our mission is to contribute to a healthy and sustainable diet, while building loving and kind relationships in our community.

The word “Chesed” is defined as: Lovingkindness, the idea of faithful love in action and often refers to God’s lovingkindness expressed in His covenant relationship with His people. God’s chesed-love denotes persistent and unconditional tenderness, kindness, and mercy, a relationship in which He seeks after man with love and mercy. This captures the spirit of why we operate a local farm. To show love to those in our community through providing nutritious, healthy, conscious food.

Our Values

  • People

    Employees earn a living wage.

Protective equipment is available and kept in working order.

Inviting employee area for breaks and meals with refreshments.

Customer feedback is requested and valued.

We learn the names and life stories of our customers to build meaningful relationships, and create repeat customers.

Donate our time, profits, and product to charitable organizations in our community.
    • We make regular donations to Christian Aid Center. Over 60 pounds of mushrooms in 2021. 90 pounds of mushrooms and 23 pounds of microgreens donated in 2022.

•We contribute our time, expertise, and mulch to local school garden programs, and the Walla Walla Valley Farm to School Program.

  • Planet

Being a local producer, we decrease the food miles associated with fresh produce in traditional supply chains.

We continue to seek opportunities to localize the supply chain by sourcing material and supplies from local producers.

We package our products the most environmentally conscious materials possible. Avoiding plastics whenever possible by using biodegradable, plant-based plastic containers.

We deliver to homes and businesses locally throughout the week. We use a hybrid vehicle to make deliveries whenever possible to reduce the carbon footprint.

Spent substrate is turned into compost to be used to enrich garden soils.

Our local vision means we focus most of our distribution within a one-hour radius from our operation. High volume items will be distributed within a four-hour radius from our operation.

  • Profit

Waste streams are evaluated for reuse or repurposing, ie. spent substrate to compost.

Maintain high quality, freshness, and unique varieties of our products to command a premium price.

Order bulk supplies, perform regular maintenance on equipment, and have replacement parts on hand to minimize downtime from needed repairs.

Attract and hire talented and passionate people that can: solve problems, innovate our processes, and work efficiently and safely.
